This report has been used by numerous other states and national policymakers as a basis for organizing 2-1-1 systems and making economic impact projections. In 2002-2003 the State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services convened a statewide working group to focus on the issues regarding database interoperability. The University of Nebraska Public Policy Center co-facilitated the group with The Mediation Center (Lincoln, Nebraska) and produced a report, Recommendations on Creating a Statewide Information Resource for Human Services, outlining the group’s recommendations. In 2003, the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center, in collaboration with many state and national partners received a 2003 Technology Opportunities Program grant to develop the technology and processes to pilot a statewide, integrated information & referral database that is populated by disparate organizations using a variety of software products.
